The Seagull by Chekhov – Told Via The Golden Age of Hollywood
Location
Royal Central School for Speech and Drama
Date
March 2024
Our goal in this production of The Seagull was to show the humanity of the characters, reflected through their failed dreams, regrets, insecurities and greater dissatisfaction with their lives. To achive that we emphasized their humanity by placing them in an intentionally artificial world. We transformed the Young Vic’s Maria studio into a movie set, the show being preformed live and through a projection simultaneously, while inviting the audience to serve both as a camera and critiques.
Director – Munotida Chinyanga
Set Design – Noga Gilboa
